Why do mortgage brokers talk about independence?
There are many options when looking for a mortgage, do you go to your estate agent, or maybe a high street bank? These are possibilities, but did you know that you aren’t able to access much of the mortgage market through these businesses?
Being an Independent Mortgage Advisor offers me multiple routes to look after my clients and offer a genuine advice & recommendation service.
If a lender declines a case, I always have a plan B and, in my experience, this means it’s incredibly rare that I cannot find an excellent solution, no matter how complicated a client’s personal circumstances or background might be.
Having worked in an estate agency and bank previously, I already know how they operate, tricks of the trade and the options they offer.
Many people feel it is easy to keep all your eggs in one basket, but doing so seriously costs you money. With a bank you have one choice of product, estate agencies are better but generally work with small panels with high advice fees, whereas being an independent, I have access to hundreds of product options, and dozens of lenders offering many network exclusive deals. My only incentive is finding the best solution at the best cost, which is openly disclosed when I present my research.
Unlike banks and estate agents who deal with mainstream mortgage lending only, I can also help with more specialised areas such as Retirement Interest Only lending, Bridging Loans, Second Charge Mortgages, HMO’s as well as having access to an Equity Release specialist, amongst others.
With our advice fees remaining the same for the 5 years I have now worked for Warners, I know these are already lower than many of our competitors who cannot provide the high degree of advice and choice we can offer as independents.
